What is a class action lawsuit?
The class action suit is a device used by plaintiffs’ attorneys to represent a group of people that have been economically damaged but who could not otherwise afford to hire an attorney for their individual damages alone. Without the class action tool, many people would not, or could not seek recourse because it would not be economically feasible to do so and/or it would be too time consuming to pursue a claim for a few dollars. Class action lawyers are able to help recover for a large amount of people in a streamlined litigation process.
