So I have had the privilege to
represent probably three dozen people
men and women who as teenagers were
turned over by their caregivers to
religious boarding schools here in
Missouri and at these religious boarding
schools these kids were sexually abused
they were physically beaten and
restrained sometimes for hours at a time
with multiple people sitting on their
backs for example with their face down
and gravel they were forced to eat
concoctions of baloney and oatmeal in a
blender and when they threw it up they
were forced to eat their own vomit they
were made to stay in dark rooms with no
light uh no contact with other people
and only a bucket for a bathroom it has
been an absolute privilege to represent
these people and help get Justice for
them and luckily the way federal law is
orchestrated these kids were able to
come
forward at a at a time in their lives
when the statute of limitations would
normally have expired but under um this
set of federal laws they were able to
prosecute their cases as late as age 31
so I was able to help some people who
were just kids still 18 19 years old but
some people who had gotten on with their
lives and gotten married and had kids
but were still haunted um by the abuse
they suffered as teenagers
