Boy a good example of a a catastrophic
injury case that I can provide is um I
represented a African-American woman who
went into a strip mul laser hair removal
Clinic um for just a simple procedure to
remove unwanted hair from her body and
the company did not properly train its
employees they used a laser um that was
completely inappropriate for dark skin
and because of the way that laser reacts
to skin it caused severe burns on her
body and in fact while she was being
burned she told the technician that she
thought thought something was wrong and
the technician ignored her and she ended
up with permanent scars the size of
silver dollars from her neck all the way
down to her bikini line I represented
the mother of a young boy who was
writing with one of his friends from
school and that boy’s father a police
officer pulled that father over or
attempted to do so and the father
foolishly chose to not pull over and the
police officer initiated a high-speed
chase through a residential area for a
non-dangerous
crime uh when he already had identifiers
that would lead to the arrest of that
person at a later time and as the chase
intensified the driver driver of the
truck made increasingly stupid decisions
and flipped the truck over and killed
everybody in it including my client’s
son who was only 10 year old 10 years
old at the time

What is the definition of a catastrophic injury?

Any injury that results from a life-threatening incident is typically categorized as catastrophic. These types of injuries include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, burns, severe fractures, dismemberment, loss of limbs and internal organ damage.

These types of catastrophic injuries can be caused by a multitude of situations including car wrecks, pedestrian accidents, defective products, explosions, construction accidents, premises liability accidents, skip and falls, electrocutions, and medical malpractice. The effects of a catastrophic injury can be seriously life-altering and can deeply affect the victim’s ability to perform every day tasks. These types of injuries not only affect the victim but can greatly change the lives of family members and loved ones as well. The costs of medical treatment can be exorbitant and oftentimes create serious debt for the injured victim.

The attorneys at McGonagle Spencer Johnson, P.C. have years of experience in recovering monies for those wrongfully injured. Compensation can include medical expenses for emergency treatment, hospitalization, surgery, ongoing care and any type of rehabilitative care required, loss of income during the recovery, as well as reduced future earning power if you are now partially or fully disabled plus damages for pain, suffering and emotional distress. Using the services of a catastrophic injury lawyer can greatly increase the changes of recovery for all the economic and non-economic damages.
